I hope soon sylhetis can have their own durga puja in Bangalore !!!
As you have said .. its only for sylhetis ... I think it will be good if we can define what sylheti means... I know lot of people whose parents are not from sylhet as such but consider themselves sylheti ... i think we shud welcome all ... i think on this site we use the term sylheti for everyone in northeast india who is a bengali and speaks or understands sylheti.

You are right in saying that we will soon have own our durga puja celebrations in bangalore.It is bit too late this year but from next year onwards it will surely happen.Infact the plan is to start with Saraswati puja in Jan'07.
Now as far as sylhetis are concerned, i am sure most of the people know what it means. Anybody who speaks sylheti and understands it can join this sammelani without a second thought.
The idea is to welcome sylheti people from all corners who can contribute towards the betterment of this sammelani and lead us by examples.We encourage people to read our Bylaws so as to know the motive behind forming the sammelani.
Hope this news spreads all over and helps sylhetis in India and abroad to come up and join hands with us.

Dear Sylheti Bhailog Bangalore sohore sylhetira sob koi asuin? kuno sada sobdo nai. Sreehatta sammelani bananir pore sob thanda hoi gesuin dekhi!!. Where is the enthusiasm that all of you had shown when we started the discussions for the Sammelani? Plz say something for heaven's sake. I dont understand what happened to all of us. Why do we always like to restrict ourself within the periphery of few chosen individuals and not mix up with others freely? Why such inhibition creeps into a person?kita korle ita thik hoibo? Beg to differ here..... in our committee we have non-sylheti members. As Sylhetis come from all background professional and non-professional ... the non-sylhetis presume that sylhetis are aload of illiterates and backward people and ridicule them at every opportunity. But they are very happy to eat all the food prepared by sylhetis. So on the question of strength I doubt that non-sylhetis will increase its broadness and strength, however, I think they should be invited guests at functions and festivities so that those prejudices and presumptions are eradicated. |
