This is a very nice thread started by asitida , I have some movies which touch my heart , these are like<br> Tiranga of Nana patekar, oh a brilliant perfomance by him<br> Anand by Rajesh khanna and amitabh bacchan.............what a movie , <br>Anamika by Sanjiv kumar nad Jaya bhaduri <br>and Anil kapoor's Nayak , here he acted in such a way which I think had shaken many politicians if they have watched the movie.

Yes Mrinmoyda you pointed out a nice movie , yes I have also wached this movie when I was in school, I'm a great film fan and liked the film a lot and always used to sing the song you mentioned though I can't sing well as i have a bhanga gola, Sandipan knows it but liked the dhun a lot . <br> I liked those films also like <br> rang birangi starring amal palekar dipti and parveen<br> and Chasme badoor starring Farook and dipti<br> Hum kadam sarring parikhit Sahane and Rakhi<br> I have some others also coming up next .

Golmaal and Khatta mitha are very good movies.<br>I like some of Rajesh khanna,s film like<br> Prem Nagar........specially the song ye lal rang kab mujhe chore ga<br> Amar Prem ,its a outstanding movie having the melodious song...........kuch to log kahenge ,logo ka kaam hain kehna ,choro baker ki batoon mein kahi beet na jaye raina<br> <br> Do raaste,its also a very good movie.<br> Then kati patang and specilly the touching song........pyar deewana hota hain mastana hota hain<br> then Anurodh.................ate jaate khubsoorat awara sarko pe ,kabhi kabhi ittefaq se kitne anjaan log mil jate hain un mein se kuch log bhul jate hain kuch yaad rehain jate hain.....oh what a song, actually liked the tune very much.<br> One movie I liked a lot based on a very bold theme Kya Kehna.........starring Pretty Zinta , Chandra chuur singh and Saif ali khan ,I guess that was Pretty's first film ............this film touched me a lot. <br> Yes one rajesh khanna's film Aap ki kasamm , very nice one and the songs ek se barkar ek.<br> Okay my friends you will now get bored of me so signing off, rest on another day.<br>

my ratings of mainstream hindi movies - <br><br>1) Madhumati(Dileep Kumar,vijaynthimala) - this is a type of movie alongwith Mahal which gives the usual horror movie an extraordinary Indian spin, with reincarnation and love becoming part of it.Its awesome.And who can forget the songs suhana safar aur yeh mausam haseen, aaja re pardesi etc.<br><br>2) Guide(Dev Anand, Waheeda Rehman) - a Hindi movie where the characters had a very real touch to them and also were <br><br>3) Deewar(the old Amitabh classic, not the new one which is crap) - the best Amitabh movie, imo. its lot more then just his angry young man stereotype.<br><br>4) Sholay - no greater or likeable villain then Gabbar has ever made into Hindi cinema.<br><br>5) Parinda(jackie Shroff, anil kapoor, nana patekar, madhuri dixit) - a masterful story telling effort.its not the usual formula of Hindi cinema.<br><br>6) Satya(Manoj Bajpai etc.) - there has never been another Bhikhu Mhatre in Hindi movies.<br><br>7) Gol Maal (Amol Palekar, Utpal Dutta) - man, does it make me laugh <br><br> Anand - its unbelievable how a real tear-jerker can be so positive and negative at the same time.Rajesh Khanna gives death a very positive spin but by making himself so likeable just shatters everybody else with his death.<br><br>9) Dil Chahta Hai - nice entertainer.very modern and captures the modern urban Indian youth.<br><br>10) Do Bigha Zameen(Balraj Sahni) - Balraj Sahni's acting in this movie is one of the best I have ever seen in Hindi movies.

Some hilarious movies...end to end...beat these<br><br>1. Angoor.<br>2. Johar Mehmood Series.<br>3. Hera Feri (both the new one and the bachchan khanna starrer, though I would consider the newer one to be better in terms of humour, and very very good humour at that...)<br><br>Hera feri, the newer one was actually one of its kind in its time...it brought in a newer kind of comedy, subtle yet pronounced, ostentatious without being monotonously irritating...and wit based on the enactments and repartees of the actors, rather than the johnny lever- ish kind of humour...which once in a while is bearable and funny even, but throughout the entire course of the movie would be a sure call to aspirin.   <br><br>heraferi r colour mixing, camera movements, directiron etc was also a little different than the other movies of the day...tar pore arekta cinema hoise with similar ambiance...yeh tera ghar yeh mera ghar...those similar colour- combinmations, shot angles, lights etc...all seemed to be an extension of heraferi.<br><br>heraferi ami bejan bar dekhsi...ekbar Bombay thkiya Mahabaleswar jairam ghurat...amra choy jon...jawar shomoy bus o ei cinema ta lagailo...awaar somoy o dekhlam ei cinema tai lagailo...ami conductor ita re jigailam je partner, same cinema kene jawa awaar somoy... I am sure people would have different says, but Rajkurar Santoshi, in my mind, has given us some of the most entertainingg films over the last one decade...<br><br>Damini, Ghayal, Ghatak, Pukar, Andaaz Apna Apna, Chinagate, and the movie that I have liked the most this year so far- Khakee.<br><br>Each of these movies could be written about in as many words as I have used for Damini...even much more by people who are in the know...<br><br>ghayal to ami sure bahot manusher er favourite list err prothom tin er moidhye thakbo...<br>pukar is an equally good movie...though it started picking up only after the entertainment tax on it was removed and that also took substantial amount of lobbying...similar with Bhagat Singh movie which also was a Rajkumar Santoshi project.<br><br>Chinagate did not fiund favours with the public...understandable...a movie that had a good enough story line, about men getting their long lost honour back...but movies on honour and stuff do not have much of a purchase on the public in India...though chamma chamma remain a watershed item- number in Hindi films.<br><br>Rajkumar Santoshi proved his versatality beyond doubts when he made Andaz apna apna considered by mane to be the funniest movie in the lst fifteen years...<br><br>And Khakee of course...the lara dutta number...aisa jadu kiya re...also aishwarya's first negative role...and she did come well...trushar was good...akshay a whole lot improved...and of course bachchan da...Khakee I have seen three times...people would not find it that good, but surely its a cut above the average movie made these days...<br><br>arekta cinemar kotha koiya sesh kori aajke...<br>aks...<br>the reflection...<br>a movie ahead of its time...first half ta sanghatik fast...second half the boring...kintu specialm effects durdanto...if there was any Hindi movie that even went half as near a Holywood action flick, it was this...aks had really good action sequences and stunts alomng with matching camera effects...<br><br>aij are na...bejan lekhi lais...jai<br>regards<br>Rupam.<br><br><br><br><br>

One more movie of 80's,produced by Rajashree Production is worth mentioning here. <br>Movie: "AAKHIO KE JAHROKO SE".<br>Starred by Sachin n Ranjeeta.<br>As matter of fact, Rajashree production has a trend of giving block-buster, but unfortunately, some of their recent movies cudn't get that level of appreciation, like "HUM SAATH SAATH HAI", "UFF KYA JADU MOHABATT HAI"...<br>Rajashree production also belives in introducing new faces in their cast...."MAYNE PYAR KYA" was probably their last biggest hit...oh..no no...the last hit was,"HUM AAPKE HAI KAUN"....correct me if i'm wrong

Aami o ekta late entry nei ei addat...<br>Hindi movies are a part and parcel of our life...everyone can relate to some or the other incidents in a Hindi movie to his/her real life.<br><br>Listing here some of my favourite ones.<br><br>1) Sholay - My all time favourite hindi movie...name one aspect of life it didn't had.Comedy...those scenes involving Dharmendra & Hema Malini.Emotion...a serene Jaya Bhaduri giving a lost look.Treachery...Gabbar Singh and his gang.Action...that train fight sequence.Passion...Sanjeev Kumar at his best dialogues.Name it and you have it in Sholay.It was incidently,it was the very first hindi movie that I saw...can watch it everyday. <br><br>2)Yaad Rekhegi Duniya - Aditya Pancholi...cancer patient...his girlfriend also cancer patient...but both never told each other...emotion at it's best.<br><br>3)Kunwara Baap - Mehmood in a devastatingly serious role...it let me cry in the end.<br><br>4)Abhimaan - Amitabh & Jaya...unforgettable.<br><br>5)Anand - Babu Moshai,yeh zindagi...Rajesh Khanna at his best with everlasting songs..."kahi door jab din dhal jaye..."<br><br>6)Izzazat - Nasseruddin,Shabana Azmi,Simi Grewal...what a beauty with touching melodies..."Mera kuch saaman tumhare paas pada hai".<br><br>7)Khamoshi - Waheeda,Rajesh Khanna...a song I would like to mention,"Humne dekhi hai in aakhon ki mehakti khushbo,haath se choo ke ise rishto ka ilzam na do".<br><br>8)Mili - Big B...Jaya..."Aaye tum yaad mujhe."<br><br>9)Parinda - Indian viewers first introduction with the underworld.<br><br>10)Saudagar - Amitabh as a sacrosse (Gur) maker...and Nutan...amazing screenplays.<br><br>11)Kaun - A Ram Gopal Verma film...without a single song...a pshyco-thriller with Urmila Matondkar.<br><br>12)Mr. & Mrs. Iyer - Rahul Bose...Konkona...Aparna Sen directed...deserved for all the awards it got.<br><br>13)Teen Deewarien - Nasseruddin,Om Puri,Gulshan Grover.Till the last moment is is not clear who is the real culprit...will keep you tied throughout the movie.<br><br>14)Maine Pyar Kiya - Salman Khan...Bhaygashree...it changed the outlook of many a few young lovers.<br><br>15)Masoom - Nasseruddin,Shabana...so engrossing tale.<br><br>16)Machhis - A Gulzar movie...exceptionally directed with excellent screenplays.<br><br>17)Border - Rupam has mentioned it in a very subtle manner.Wonderful movie with the longest ever war scene in Hindi cinema.Remember that open eyed death of Akshaye Khanna.It gave the Longewala front of 71 War a unique way to reach the public.Sunny with his motivating stuff..."Mathura Das,ayinda kabhi marne ki baat nahi karna,jung marke nahin,dushmonon ko maarke jeeti jati hai."<br><br>18)Dhadkan - "Anjali,mein tumhe bhool jaun,yeh ho nahi sakta aur tum mujhe bhool jao,yeh mein hone nahi doonga". <br><br>19)Jism - It changed the way directors in Bollywood used to treat sex...it is the most taboo subject in films...no director likes to take it frontseat...but everybody wants it.We are all hypocrites in accepting it...but Pooja Bhatt did it...redefined the way we treated sex in hindi movies.John Abraham..."Awaarapan,Banjarapan eik sila hai seene main". <br><br>20)Devdas - Have seen it not less than 30 times...Shahrukh...Madhuri...Aishwarya...the dialogues were wonderful..."Kaun Kambhakt Jeene ke liye piita hai,Hum to pite hein ki hoosh kho dey,par hamari paro ki yaad hai ki hame hosh bhi khone nahi deti". <br><br>More to come...

Oy,Oy thik koisos Mrinmoy,Ajay Devgun has done a few wonderful films...he has been highly acclaimed for those roles.Roles in Zakham,The Legend of Bhagat Singh,Yuva & Gangajal are worth mentioning.<br><br>I liked his role in Zakham specially...also liked that song."Tum aaye to aaya mujhe yaad,gali mein aaj chaand nikla".<br><br>Akshay Kumar was also superb in Sangharsh...that was a good movie with nice songs.Priety Zinta also did nice work in it.<br><br><br><br>

Hello All,<br>Since we are talking about memorable Hindi movies, I would like to talk about some very few, yet, important war movies of Bollywood. Although, a lot of movies have not been made in this genre, a few that stand out, i.m.h.o, are <br><br>Haqueeqat (b/w *ing, a very young Dharmendra, Balraj Sahani, and Amjad Khan's father) based on the 1962 Indo-China war. <br><br>Hindustan Ki Kasam (*ing Amjad Khan, Raj Kumar, et al) based on the 1971 Indo-Pak war, with good sequences of dogfights over Pakistan, <br><br>Border (*ing Sunny Paji, Sunil Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, et al) great attempt by Mr. J.P Dutta tank sequences were great.<br><br>And coming to the most recent Lakshya directed by Farhan Akhtar, although, not an out and out war movie, beautiful images of IMA campus, battle sequences realistically depicted the chaos of battle, and the use of Paki tracers against Indian soldiers was great becoz, thats what they did during night times in Kargil, from what I read back then. <br>Also, the sequence when Hritik etc. are going towards the base of the mountain for the final assault they reacted first when they came across the terrorists guarding that approach. That was great <br>The 'Mission Impossible'/ 'Cliffhanger' stunts were very good to say the least <br><br>I think more movies should be made of this genre which will lessen the existing divide between military and civilian populace in India. I.M.H.O in the past there has not been enough coverage in the media about the Indian soldier, and the ultimate sacrifices made by them. all wonderful choices....and sum rekindling old memories....well adding my choices for whtever its worth...most have already been spoken abut...<br>1)saaransh(naseerrudin)- he plays a bling school principal. an absolute top notch performance and really comparable with wht pacino does in scent of a woman.<br><br>2)junoon(naseeruddin)-set during the period of sepoy mutiny. story of love entwined with all the chaos of the times. <br><br>3)angoor(sanjeev kumar)- absoluting rib tickling laugh a minute riot. <br><br>4) shakti(amitabh, dilip kumar)- had the ingredients of most commerical movies..but the dad- son duels jes set the scene on fire..the tension, the underbelly of tension whenever those character meet..n not shouting at the top of ur voices... understated brilliant performances by 2 gr8s.<br><br>5)Dil chahta hai. - a true movie of the times and everyone could identify wit atleast one character/ituation/scene in the movie.<br><br>6)Angaar(jackie)- had a good pace to it, lovely cinematography.gr8 use of background music and luvly camera shots. and all characters had a nice twist to them. maybe got a lil strectched towards the end..but was still different fare. <br><br>7)ganga jumna(dilip kumar)- one can call it the movie which inspired Deewar, but was equally good in its own right . n sum haunting songs.<br><br>8)monsoon wedding- unbashedly punjabi ..need i say more<br><br>9)Namak haraam- nice songs- diye jalte hai...main shair badnaam...orginal story line n again gr8 performances<br><br>10)ardh satya- forget zanzeer..forget shool..the best cop ever played<br><br>well most hve been repeated already....so thts it for now<br>

Jaane kitne dino ke baad, <br>gali mein aaj chaand nikla... <br><br>err thekiya are bhala chedkhani r gan hoy ni <br><br>keu dhoro jar tumi koilaay<br><br>"gali mein aaj chand nikla" <br><br>na na are ita koitaam na...seshe pita uta khaimu abaar  <br><br>this mahesh bhatt movie was probably spelled "ZAKHM" and not "zakham"...nevermind<br>it truly was a good movie...<br><br>devgan's role in HDDCS was equally good, he does come good whenever he does not try to do something that he is incapable of...for example...in the movie ISHQ (which in its own rights was a hilarious movie) when all the four stars- Devgan, Kajol, Juhi, Aamir- da enact a dance sequence, Devgan loked out of place...very very shady...this not not to say that he cannot dance even a bi...kintu he is much more convincing when he playes more sober roles...he really has the capability to enthrall...<br><br>I liked Devgan in "Khakee", he does make a good villain. I liked him in "Divyashakti"...and of course ZAKHM and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, saw equally good performances from him. He has over the years evolved as an actor who you can rely on to carry your movie, provideed you give him the right kind of roles. veeru Devgan should be more than happy.<br><br>"ek ruka hua faislaa"<br>if you have not seen it, make sure you do at the earliest. I can bet my life on the fact that you are going to like it, inside ou. What powerful acting, what powerful dialogue, and what a mesmerising script...simple settings, simple plot, and an amazing tale of a movie extremely well made.<br><br>"dhund" is a good movie, you might like it, if you have a penchant for mystrey.<br><br>talking of war movies, I am not sure anyone in Hindi has done justice to the potential, other than JP Duta in "Border." True, war movies have been made in Hindi, but hardly they can claim to be full- blown "war " movies...<br>the point is, if you are mnaking a war movie, you better have the plot on the battlefield...and not on some sarson ka khet, where hero herioune run and sing...and do what not...pointless.<br>Border had some of these, but in relative terms, it also had the maximum time devoted to the battlefield when one makes a comparison with the similar movie that had come earlier...<br><br>"Lakshya" cinema ta thikthak...jodio doesnt come any near to Border in terms of the emtions the later cooked up. <br>ekta chuto ghotona koi,<br>ei cinema ta amaar office thekiya dekhaise...maane ekta screening room ase aarki...cinema unema dekhau shukrobar e...tee ami gelam cinema ta dekhat...sob bowa aarki...je shomoy oii scene ta ailo...pahar o uther ritwik rohan, (a take on the inagural shot of MI2), koek ta chele hala tarar cellphones o ek logey MI2 r ringtones bajani shuru korlo.... <br><br>halaa ekk jin hokol naani

Thik koiso Rupam, Lakhsya is a good movie, but not comparable with Border....<br>Back to 70's n 80's again....there's a movie called 'SHALIMAR', starred by Dharmendra....nice movie...nice songs...especially,<br>"Hum bewafa hargiz naa the".<br><br>'MAJBOOR', starred by Amitabh....<br><br>'BENAAM', starred by Amitabh, again..<br><br>

Well is Dhoom already in the theatres? Seen the promos.....seemed to be good as far as hindi movies are concerned, my favs are Mirch Masala, Gumnam and Mera Naam Joker. The latest movie I have seen is "Gladiator" in Hindi.....he he ......stupid heh! By the way I would like to mention a good movie, its not Hindi.....its Cast Away. A must See.

anekdin dhoria ei thread ta dormant hoi roise. since 2004, a few movies that I really liked are - Black (the cinematography is great) , Rang de basanti (whatta movie, so light yet so serious), sarkar ( well I guess I liked it only for the fact that this Godfather remake did not disssapoint ..so may attempts bollywood made!!) and the freshness of Bunty and Bubly. i am not a theatre person, i see the movies when it's being telecast on TV so my expectations are not so high. Well, one movie Iqbal i must mention. I like nagesh kokonoor a lot, may be bacause of the fact that he and me share the same college. Atleast this guy dared to be different at mid career level. Ofcourse, there is harsha Bhogle also from the same college, another jewel.
